WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO *Documentation: U.S. citizens need a valid passport. It should be valid for at least six months after your day of departure. *Currency: The Colon. You can use U.S. dollars almost anywhere. If you need "walking around" money, exchange at hotels or banks. The exchange rate is better for cash than for Travelers' Checks. Banking hours are 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. weekdays. *Taxes: Check to find out whether the approximately 16% Room Tax has been included in your quoted hotel rate. Restaurants add a 13% tax plus a 10% Service Charge. *Seasons: Prime Time is Dry Season, Dec.-April. Short showers fall daily, usually during the afternoons, during the rest of the year. San Jose enjoys Spring temperatures year 'round. *Hotel Reservations: If you are honeymooning during Christmas or Easter, reserve at least three months in advance. *Electricity: Same as the U.S. Your appliances will work without special plugs. *Time: Same as U.S. Central Time.
 HELPFUL HONEYMOON HINTS *DON'T FORGET: A sweater and/or waterproof jacket; flashlight; alarm clock; Spanish/English dictionary; folding umbrella; binoculars; camera; film; walking shoes and sneakers; bathing suits. Bring necessary toiletries and medicines from the U.S. *LUGGAGE: Light outdoor clothes except for the capital where citified resortwear prevails.
